Any cute, easy suggestions for yard borders?! Lawn and bush/tree area?

I have a small backyard that used to have three 12ft. 2x4's that made a nice border. But over the years, and lawnmower mishaps, the boards have deteriorated and I would like to replace them with something that I don't have to dig a trench for, any suggestions??!

The possibilities are endless! You can simply plant Hostas or something that will edge nicely. I've even seen a collection of upside down wine bottles shoved into the ground as a boarder. They have a variety of plastic boarders you just poke into the ground as well. Be sure to show us what you decide:-)
