How can you update wallpaper walls without painting or repapering?

My husband does not want to take the paper off and paint nor repaper. With today's new DIY trends, does anyone know of alternatives? This is in the kitchen and dining area.

If it's not peeling you can paint over it. Prime and then paint.

In the kitchen you can do peel and stick tile . When he sees how easy and economical that is, he may be open to change elsewhere .

You can put up shiplap walls on some of the walls, this is a new trend many people are doing. It seems pretty budget friendly, you just need to purchase wood slats, put them up and paint.

Have thought about stenciling? Or maybe some vinyl decals with a quote or something similar.
