Help With Water Ruined Sides on a Vanity!

Any help is appreciated I don't know how or where to start with these damaged sides. I've started stripping and realized the bottom of both sides are super flimsy. Do I need to cut out the sides and replace with plywood?
looks like veneer which will have to be removed since so much of it is missing, there are boards under it though so you could sand them after the veneer is gone
But the wood under it is really flimsy. How do I fix that ?
So, since so much of the veneer is already gone and what's there looks extremely dry, I would agree and remove the veneer. Hopefully it will come off easily for you. If you get a few pieces that are stubborn I have found using a damp towel over the area and then pressing with an iron helps loosen the adhesive and then you pry or scrape it off more easily. I think I ruined our iron doing this cause it leaves a sticky residue on the iron but I figured I'll just get another iron and use that one for these type of projects. Patience is your friend here. The wood underneath looks awesome so a quick sanding and then onto painting or staining. Please add a final picture to your post :)
So just go ahead and finish peeling the veneer? When I get done with the veneer I'll post a picture. I think the actual wood under the veneer is ruined. That's the problem im having. Is the wood under looks and feels paper thin flimsy
