Has anybody redone their kitchen cupboards using glass or plastic?

I love the look that I have seen in magazines with kitchen cupboards having a wooden outer frame and clear/ textured plastic or glass in the center so you can see what is in the cupboard. Not sure how to go about this .

Can you share a picture of your current cabinets and what they are made of? Sometimes you have to replace the doors sometimes you can cut your doors and add a glass/Plexiglas inserts.

I went to a glass company and had them cut a pvc decorative panel for my dining room cabinets that my husband built. He left the two center upper cabinets with framing only and the centers open for the panels. I liked the obscure look so everyone cant see all but can make out that dishes and cups, etc are on the shelves.

It all depends on the style of the door. If it is a frame with wood inside that is a lot easier to cut out and replace. A door with no frame is not going to cut well. Check out companies that do over original cabinets. They may have replacement doors with glass. I would do this before I started cutting up the ones that are there and compare cost and time.
