Do I need to retreat my home for termites after making new flower beds

    Yes. Mulch , the kind you purchase not homemade , is known to be infested with the pests. We learned that the hard way . Better safe than sorry .

    Depends on the treatment you had done. Use cedar mulch and call your pest control company. They'll let you know if it's necessary to retreat.
  • I never use mulch directly against a structure partially for this reason. I have received bad mulch, and the supplier did make good, so all is well, but I did have to have the termite guys come out. Wouldn't be a bad idea but do not purchase anything you do not need and do not let them scare you into purchasing unnecessary services.

    Termites are always in the ground and they love wet wood. Ensure that the mulch is not right up against the house, fix any areas of wet wood on the house -don't forget to look at the roof rafters and windows. It is good practice to get a contract for annual inspection and treatment.
