Murphy's Oil Soap in Distilled Water lightly scrub with a 3M scotch pad go in the direction of the grain (should be length of the board) Rinse and Dry with a cotton cloth. If not working so well you could add some white distilled vinegar 1 Cup to 1 gallon water with Murphy's then rinse and dry . Work in small sections so the wood doesn't get too wet. If grain raises a little sand with fine grit sand paper in the direction of the grain

Great share Beverly! Once done with the general cleaning...SEAL it...it won't be as hard to clean next time. Wood is so beautiful when it has a sealed finish or stained & sealed. As kids we used to sweep, damp mop & then wax our bedroom floors on our hands knees with paste wax-then Mom or Dad would run the buffer over it & it just sparkled!
