What is the best way to remove many coats of bad paint from a dresser?

I have a good functioning dresser that has been through 2 granddaughters and their color changes and would like to start fresh for a new guest room dresser!

I use a hand held sander for such projects. There are chemical paste strippers that eat away at the layers but make sure you follow the instructions and safety precautions.
Use a product called Citristip which is a safe non-toxic paint stripper.
get a natural paint stripper they are not harsh on lungs and skin
