What can beautify this ceiling hole?

Both our halls have them. They are ceiling/attic fans that we use in Spring and Fall-and sometime in Winter. (Of course, we need full A/C in Georgia summer).

I have thought of painting stars or clouds on a board, but it might be worse than plain white , considering the halls are small and have a light fixture to consider. I don't want to attract MORE attention to the ugly hole.

What do you professionals think? Thanks, Jo

I'd cover them with framed white plastic lattice or ceiling tin tiles painted white. If it has to be 'open' for circulation, ask your a/c company for their professional opinion. Best of luck.

I would just paint it,as adding any design etc. will draw the eye to what already upsets you.

I would use the sm metal lattice they use to cover old heat radiators. Paint it white to match ceiling. The holes would vent the air.

i was going to suggest painting it white and putting trellis on it as well.

maybe change the light fixture to make it look more 'garden' like. or something other than traditional "out of date".

if your hall is long and connects to the other one, then you can do this down the entire ceiling, (and replacing the lights w something lighter and something that will coordinate with the trellis. my brother did that in his house and everyone always commented on how great it looked.

The more you do, the more attention you will draw to it. I would paint everything the same color and make it "go away."

The answer to this one is soooo easy - make it 'disappear' by painting it the same as the ceiling.

I have never regretted wall papering my ceilings. I do the same for the attic entrance (with a frame around it).

That crossed my mind. I saw online a ceiling wallpaper with clouds, rays, and one with stars that looked good. I'd need about 3x3 feet, and frame it.

What kind of paper did you use on your ceiling? If it was sky, Where did you get it?

I just used regular wall paper that fit my style (small flowers). My sister did paint her ceiling blue and then added white clouds to it. I think if you want a sky, you'll have to buy a mural; and what is nice about those is that you can get the kind that easily pull off again if you want. Google murals.

How about the fake ceiling tiles? Pulled this picture off web, and these are from Home Depot.

Just paint this area and know it is a necessity in the "SUNBELT!" I have never liked the use of attic fans because the pollen is so thick here in spring it looks like fog some days! I don't want to pull that stuff inside to be all over everything!!! I prefer ceiling fans and small directional fans in rooms. I have a small fan on the bookshelf in my bedroom to blow directly over our bed as well as a ceiling fan. Those small fans make almost no sound and are very efficient...as well as inexpensive!

Decorators say ceiling fans are tacky...well, unless you are very well off, you can't survive in Georgia without fans.
