How to make my inside window sills wider?

Make them a cat ledge with a heavy weighted base and a carpeted platform on top. You can make it window height so they can see outside. You can then move it to different windows to give them a change of scenery. They sell this type of thing at pet stores too.
Or find a narrow table that fits under the window and put a cushion on top. The top of the sofa by a window works too.
Bed Bath and Beyond sells some thing like this. We had one and the cat loved it.
