Best product to maintain hardwood floors? Good ol' Murphy Soap Oil? Also do steam mops gradually destroy hardwood floors?

    depends in the finish.... wax? more permanent varnish? Polyurethane? You need to know

    Frankly, I'm not sure. We just bought a new place.. Any general answer? did some research and bought Bona cleaner yesterday

    Since you aren't certain , I'd stick with Bona.

    Bona is what my mom uses on her wood floor and it works like magic. I would definitely never ever use a steamer. Best of luck.

    Never Never use Murphy's oil soap on hardwood floors, it puts a scum on them. If engineered floor, no steam mop but occasionally a light damp cloth would be fine. Don't know if your floors are waxed or poly.
