You can buy a wood graining tool to use with paint at hardware store such as Menard's. And do check out Pinterest. They many fantastic articles on wood graining with tutorials.
There is a special tool for applying paint to look like wood. Look for it online or at a craft or paint store

The wood grain tool is great. I am a huge fan of using this with gel stains. Do a sample board first to get the hang of it.
There is an inexpensive woodgrain tool, I've seen it at home depot for less than $10.
