Spray the plants with horticultural oil and apply food grade diatomaceous earth around the plants.

Most nurseries will have horticultural oil and diatomaceous earth. Lowe's and Home Depot should at least have horticultural oil.

I harvest the horn worms at dawn & dusk. Keep a old glass jar w/lid 1/2 full of alcohol. Look for "pellets" on top of leaves, worms should be directly up from there. I can usually manage the pests before I lose a plant. Most of the worms I harvest are 1/8-1/4" around and about an inch long. The 32oz glass jar works for the entire summer. At the end of growing season, I flush the contents of the jar, wash & rinse, then save for the next year.
