How do I keep skunks from eating my herbs?

I have planted different kinds of herbs over the last couple of years, but every time I do, skunks seem to find a way to get to them and eat them all up. How can I stop them naturally I don't want to kill them, just stop them from eating my herbs.

Oh no!! Skunks are night-dwelling animals, and don't like bright light. A motion-activated flood lamp will often startle them off.

I thought about that, but I live in a duplex of duplexes and there is already many dusk to dawn lights on every building, doesn't seem to deter them. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Try mixing bone meal in and around the plant base. Another option is hot peppers from your kitchen pantry sprinkled on the soil around the base of your plant.

You could try covering them with chicken wire. You can also purchase a motion detector that sprays water on the critter when detected. It works great.

That sounds like a good idea, I'll have to try that. Thank you.
