What is the optimal height and width for a raised garden bed?

    A good width is 4 ft and a good height is 1 ft. Happy planting!

    Raised beds vary according to space available and your choice. It is best to be sure you can reach or work around it and the higher the better. If you fill the bottom with leaves, you will save on garden soil. In addition, some raised beds are on wheels so that they may be moved if the sun becomes too much and they at high enough you do not need to bend over.

    I think it also depends on your comfort zone. I have seen beds as high as 2.5 to 3 feet to accommodate people in wheel chairs. There is also straw bale gardening to consider and it's very economical to do.
