How long has the lawn been laid or grown? You might try a lawn roller.

If it's small bumps (like large ant hill type bumps) drag it with a homemade change link fence drag that can be attached to your riding more. Buy a standard piece of chain link fence about 6-8 feet long. Attach it with hook nails at both ends to some nice 6x6 or 8x8. Attach a piece of chain to one of the 6x6 or 8x8s . ensure the chain is long enough to hook to a tow pin on your riding mower and pull across the entire yard. Yes, it will mess the grass up on the surface level, but also new seed can be spread as well at this time. I've done it countless times on varies yards of the homes I've owned. If you've ever seen a baseball field being drug before a game, this is what you're doing to the lawn. Good fortune with it :)

IF there are only a few 'rolling hillocks' in the yard; keep your expense down by cutting the lawn around the 'lump' & removing some of the underlying soil [that will 'level it], then water the spot & lay the sod you loosened back in place..it will not even be noticeable in a week or so.

if it's moles you need to roll it. You can rent a roller at Lowe's I think. We used to have one and we filled it with water which made it heavy and then just drove over the lawn with it It flattened the bumps caused by moles and voles.
