I have a mulberry bush (tree) which sprouted a new branch which sprouted straight up through and above the bush. What do I do now?

That branch should be cut out and use running seal.

Yes definitely cut that branch now before it becomes too big or takes over the whole tree. I'm not sure if it's something I would tackle myself since it seems close to your home.

I would have it cut down but a professional.

I think you might need to prune it away so it doesn't cause damage- good luck!

wow! How unusual! I would embrace this interesting phenomenon.

That new branch looks like it's taking a lot of energy from the rest of the tree. I'd saw it off close to the base and seal the stump. If new sprouts form around the cut base of the branch's stump, snip them off right away.

Thanks everyone. The big sprout is gone. I managed to prune a lot of other dead branches out too. Glad to get this taken care of before the foliage comes out. Wonder what kind of tree it is. that's my next quest.

No pruning seal! Trees do that on their own, provided the cut is proper.

This is the first I've seen a mulberry "bush". Our 2 trees were just that, trees. very old and very tall. great for climbing to get to the branches
