I am looking for a satin or semi gloss finish ?

I painted my countertops with a water based enamel paint, they look great and have a nice texture. I bought the paint at Benjamin Moore and the sales person said I wouldn't need to seal it. I think I do , but have only found gloss finish sealers. I don't think a satin polyurethane would well on a kitchen counter...any suggestions??? Thanks

Hi Pamela! Gosh, I've never heard of painting countertops with just enamel paint. Won't it scratch and peel? I would also think that polyurethane might yellow a bit. But Im sure there are other sealers with a satin finish wouldn't be difficult to find. I'm sorry I'm really of no help. I'm curious, though, about using enamel on countertops. I painted ours years ago, roughed them up of course first, and then used an oil based paint with a top coat. They worked well for awhile, but eventually started to wear.
What you applied works great without topcoats. Oil or shellac will yellow quickly. Water based urethane is not inte for heavy use.
Sounds like a great new product many of us will have to investigate. Thanks for letting us know a little about it!!
Pamela, wow! I'd love for you to send a picture of your "new" kitchen! I did the same thing when I painted my countertops, it desperately needed a facelift but there was no money in the budget for new countertops. I bet your kitchen looks awesome! Thanks so much for the reply. I've never heard of that paint.
It great to be able to make updates with out having to spend tons of money!!!
