How can I insulate my front porch (rented apt.) to be able to use it?

I live in a rented apt. with a front porch that is useless because it is not insulated. Therefore it's too hot in the summer & too cold in the winter to use it for anything. There are windows on all sides with spaces in between. Please help!

Have you considered hanging drapes to block the sun in the summer and the cold in the winter ? You can use a little space heater in the winter and perhaps a fan in the summer .

How big is the porch? How many windows? And I also agree with C.D. Scallan. About those windows. How about curtains. Nothing expensive...maybe white fabric or a sheet to cut up. And here is where it gets crazy. Buy a one or two of those "heat reflective survival emergency blankets." They are silver and only cost a couple of dollars. They keep the heat out and work to keep the heat in. (some of them do) You could cut them up and attach them to the fabric. You could staple them on or maybe Velcro them in place. Am going to do this for the side of my front porch but will use a shower curtain facing the street. Another Hometalker suggested I do this.
