Roses should be prune in the spring before any new growth emerges or in the fall after flowering has stopped.

  • Knockout roses should be pruned in the dormant season - generally between January and Late March, depending on your zone.

As to finding your question or reply, in the upper right corner of the screen ( to the right of Ask Question, you should see a box (your profile pic - which you don't have one) with a small pull down arrow, if you hover on that arrow, you will see a list including "Discussions", that is what you click to see the discussions you are involved in.

As to looking for your old question, go to your profile. It should show all of your Hometalk activity, whether it be a question or project you've posted, any discussions you're following or comments you've made.

My answer to your question depends on where you're located. I'm in central Texas and pruned my knock-outs--not hard prune, but simply pruning it back--whenever it needed it regardless of season. Knock-outs are earth kind roses and very hardy. Pruning will delay your blooms but when you get them there'll be plenty. Again, I'm in central Texas. I don't know if that answer's good in your area, though I tend to believe it is. I'm sure you'll get lots more answers.

I am in PA. and trim mine as needed. You will delay the flowers, but they will come again later. Just trim the branches back to a 5 leafed stem.
