How to get rid of the smelly looking worms?

these worm like things get in the house once in awhile and when you pick them up they smell so awful! They are about 1and1/2 inch in length. If they get sucked up in the vacuum the smell radiates so much I have to change the bag out. I have asked so many people here in Austin Tx. and no one seems to be able to help me identify or give me a remedy to get rid of them.

this may sound silly, but you you take a photo so we can help with the identification. It sounds like stink bugs.

It doesn't sound silly. I had some pics but cannot find them so will get another. I know what stink bugs are and it does sound like that but they are definitely not. Thank you for responding.

You might want to sprinkle pepper around the places that they get in, it will block their entry! Good luck!!

Centipede is what I think you might be having.

    Diatomaceous Earth

We had the same thing in San Antonio. We have oak trees and had an infestation of oak worms a few weeks ago with the pollen. They looked like those kinda, but a little fatter and darker brown. Maybe those dying? Or millipedes/ centipedes of some sort from what I’ve read. They smelled AWFUL though. So awful that we thought they were maggots at first. Definitely not maggots but NASTY AF. Also very curious if anyone in Texas knows for sure... howwwww? Whyyyyy? 🤮
