Needs a cost-effective, decorative way to do this. The only light fixtures are in my dining room, kitchen and bathroom. I need them in my bedrooms. I only use lamps---not enough lighting. Please help!

You can buy pendant lamps that hang from the ceiling via hooks, the cord running along the ceiling and down the wall to plug into a socket. These were popular in the late '60s, early '70s but still can be found. Attached is a current example.

Back atcha! BTW if you're interested in doing a light like this, here's a link for some DIYs: http://www.decoist.com/2013-10-31/diy-pendant-lights/ Some of these are shown hardwired but any can be hung from hooks. Pictured below is one I have hanging in my studio. It has plastic-coated wire strung through chain, though I think that's a bit outdated for today's look. The lamp came that way so I hung it that way. We have a hook directly above one end of the sofa, where the light's hanging, and one against the wall, and the chain is draped into both hooks, then down to the socket. Here's another link for some DIY cluster pendants. http://www.epbot.com/2013/10/wire-your-own-pendant-lighting-cheap.html Again she's hardwired hers but they too could be hooked and hung. Good luck.
