What are the best vegetable plants for a shallow deck garden?

    So, I have had success with tomato plants in cages with supports and the weirdest thing is that even though I planted squash and zucchini in some long and low planters, they never produced.

    lettuce is a good one, radishes, basil, garlic, beans, cucumber, leaks. There are several more depending on what you like.

    I plant "small roots" veggies. At the moment I have 5 kinds of lettuce/radishes/spinach

    Usually, you can plant anything if you have room for the root system. For vining plants, you need something for them to climb and maybe extra calcium.

    Try purchasing Tomatoes that will not get to large(grape tomatoes)Basil should be fine,basically vegetables with a small root system.
