I have all the tools I need but don't have 4 hands to hold it in place so I can nail it in or hold it straight.

I am vertically challenged and a solo DIY'er so what I have done may sound nutty but its works! Tape broom or extension handles at 6 ft intervals to the wall with painters tape just below where the bottom of the crown molding will sit. Be certain the handles are secured well because they will act as braces to hold the molding in place. Then, starting in the middle of the project area place the molding and tape it to the ceiling/wall about 6-12 inches to the left and right of center with painters tape. Continue taping at approximately 3 ft intervals to either side to secure the molding. Then, you should be ready to nail the molding in place and remove broom sticks and painters tape!

If you live near a vocational school check to see if there is a student to help. They always appreciate a little extra cash as well as experience outside of the classroom.

better yet, google foam crown moulding....light as a feather easy to cut with a boxcutter....accepts paint...looks just like real wood. comes in variety of patterns to mix and match for your personal design.. and can be mounted with staple gun...also local boy/girl scout troops love to help...a lot of ceilings are decorated with this because there is no weight to it.

I have installed a lot of crown moulding by myself and i always just used a couple of large nails at about the six foot mark or 10 foot mark if it is a 12' span. I angle the nail slightly upward so end of moulding rests there while I am working on the other end right. Often the moulding will cover the nail hole when I get there. Or just a tiny bit of spackling will do the trick. I am a 5'2" lady and had to devise a way to do this. My husband is not into remodeling!!
