I did a large section of my yard with mulch to put a bench on.I just cut the grass short covered it all with cardboard wet it a little and put mulch right over it.I did not want to dig or use any chemicials.
Thank you -what a great idea-I did not want to use chemiclas either.
Cover grass with landscape cloth, buy mulch in bulk and spread yourself. Easy and cheaper than hiring someone. Take into consideration any slope in your yard, as you do not want your mulch spilling out, you may need some sort of edging - think about that too.
Call local tree services, and they will bring it to you by the truckload and dump it where you want for free
Awesome-I am on it! Thank you!
Thank you Naomi -will have to do soon before it gets to hot here.
scalp the grass with a mower. Place thick BLACK plastic on the area being mulched...the plastic prevents sunlight and acts as a barrier for weeds. now apply mulch....if the area is huge or you don't have time, or manpower the task may be bigger than you want to tackle....pros come in with dump trucks, mini dozers or skids and can spread the mulch a lot more quickly and evenly than you will....if the area is something you want to tackle...by all means do it yourself....by the way, cardboard as previously suggested will eventually decay and weeds will appear through the mulch....been there, done that
