I have heard that Kitchen and Bathroom renovations usually make a home more saleable, People like kitchens to be up to date, it is a room people gather in and spend a lot of time in. Bedrooms and living rooms tend to get renovated by the people moving in, to their tastes.

The front entrance and door is the first and last thing people see. Also no one wants to see photos of your dead relatives, kid's school projects, or your laundry! Depersonalize the entire house: if it feels like "this is me", get rid of it! Things with patterns, especially bold ones or 'fussy' can be very distracting and too personal taste. Fresh cut lawns, open windows and fresh air along with Potpourri can be a good idea to make the house feel fresh.

Fresh paint on all walls, including the kitchen cabinets and bathroom ones, as well, if necessary. They say the kitchen and the bathrooms sell the house, so if you can afford it,update accordingly, if that's an option.
