Adding a pond/water sourse

Naomie Moore aka baileyanddaisey, Castaic CAJohnDennis Ryan

Looking for simple budget friendly ways to add a small pond/water source to our yard. We have had a family of ducks adopt us and we would like to provide a clean source of water so they aren't having to continue to cross the street

It is fine to prune it back now in the spring before it puts on its full flush of growth. If it is very spindly this may be due to limited sunlight! If so, it will continue with this growth habit in a shady location. Next spring before it leaves out, if it isn't too large, transplant it to an area with more sunlight. Can you post a current photo?

walmart plastic child swimming pool...can be emptied and filled fresh when needed (feathers and poop accumulate quickly) and stored in ducks love it...I live on a farm and have 8 ducks and 4 geese. keep the ducks as long as you can....they kill snakes just like geese....the pool is cheap and also waters birds....if it gets a hole, fill with dirt and flowers or vegetable garden...weeds don't grow through it
  • How lucky are you! Until you can find a more permanent solution get the cheapie plastic kiddie pool at any KMart, Walmart, Target - easy to clean out and easy to clean and refill. What a wonderful learning experience for your kids.
