  • how about wildflower? You can easily spread the seed and not maintain and provide an area for butterflies at the same time.

All plants are going to require some mainetance. Even if you sow seemed so wildflowers which will cover a lot they will still have to be deadheaded and watered.Succulents are less maintenance but may not give you enough choices for that much area.Grasses will work and take up some space, but they will have to be cut back in early spring and cleaned out.Shorter grasses as Blue fescues, and mondo grass are rarely easy, however you still have to clean them,no cutting. You may have to brake your yard up in sections and not plant the whole area. I have over an acre of property with all different gardens.

If you have any shade at all, ferns would be fantastic. There are so many different kinds and varieties.

first google your USDA zone...USDA zone..then zip code....mine is 8b...then google low maintenance plants for your zone. for best nature habitat, take a walk in fields or woods in your area and see what is growing there.....mother nature knows best....or just wait and she will do the planting for you by blowing neighboring seeds onto your property

I like coneflowers. I've had mine for over 10 years & no maintenance. I live in northern Illinois.
