How to curtain 2 windows on either side of my fireplace?

There are only abfew inches of wall space betweem the fireplace and the window, I have pleated shades now, but want some typemof drapes or curtains..

There are also special curtain rods that actually hook onto your window frames.
Does it have to be curtains? Could you use blinds or maybe a roller shade inside the frame?
Are you are worried about the curtains being a fire risk when fireplace is in use? If so, use a tie back to hold the curtains to the side.
What about using drapery wires. Perhaps this hardware could be mounted on the ceiling. Here is a picture from IKEA.
