My deck is peeling- How can I redo it?

Try using Citristrip a safe non-toxic paint stripper.

pOWER WASH as much as you can get off that way---probably a lot--and then use the new deck paint that smooths out your surface---we used it on ours and love it.

Really depends on what the paint is. I had the newer Rustoleum deck paint put on mine and it's a catastrophe. It peels off in huge strips in some places and is very stubborn in others. I'm having a pro come in this week to sand down the whole mess. They are recommending a Sherwin Williams oil based deck paint over Two primer coats. A painted deck is a constant maintenance issue. I would NEVER paint a deck if I had the option. By the way, some folks suggest flipping the boards over where possible. Good luck!

I would scrape the paint right off the floor and use a water sealer instead of repainting it. That way, when you remove snow in winter, you won't scrape up the new paint, and your deck floor will still be protected. Railings and sides can still be painted because they shouldn't take any wear and tear and will last.

short of getting on your hands and knees i would rent a sandblaster and use low pressure to sandblast all of it off hope this helps xx

I would buy some new composite deck boards for a lot less work, and much easier maintenance over the years.
