What size rug do I need for a livingroom?

What size is your living room?

size is matter of taste...wall to wall or just an area rug for under a table. my living room is 24' by 28' with hardwood floors so i would probably never use a rug bigger than 10' by 10'.....also rugs come in all price ranges, so it depends on your budget.....I know a relative that has a $40,000 hand woven alpaca rug from Peru...definitely not in my budget.

10x12,8x10, What size is your living room. The major furniture pieces,sofa and chairs, should have the front legs on the rug at least.

Judy is correct. Regardless of how big the room is, the rug needs to be large enough so that the legs of the major pieces of furniture are on it, or small enough to fit in front of them with the legs on the floor. It depends on the look you are going for. I have a smaller rug in front of my furniture anchored with a coffee table.
