What basic tools should every DIY "newbee" have in their tool box?

    hammer, cross head and flat screwdrivers...assorted sizes, pliers, box cutter, channel locks, set of box end-open end wrenches, wire cutters,assortment of nails, screws, and washers, allen wrench set, tape measure ... add tools as you need them, but this should get you started

    A hammer, a flathead screwdriver, a philipshead screwdriver, an awl, an adjustable wrench, and some kind of sharp blade, and a measuring tape.

    Hammer, drill, drill bits and diff screw driver bits, screw drivers, needle nose pliers, pliers, tape measure, level and a box of various screws and anchors and various size nails. I found a awsome tool box on wheels at Menards. It slides open to access all the compartments

    hammer, tape measure, screw drivers: robertson, philips and flat, small level, carpet/exacto knife, adjustable wrench or vice grips, wrenches in standard size.

    Hammer, Philips head (cross) screwdriver, flat screwdriver, glass (clear) tape (pet fur/lint remover, fixing jobs) hammer and pliers!
