Why doesn't my hydrangea bloom?

Do you know the name of the Hydrangea>Where is it planted? At some time was it pruned?

The hydrangeas that I am familiar with only bloom on old wood. So , if you prune, do not prune back this years wood as it will be what carries the blooms next year.

I learned a few years ago that the blooms only emerge from new growth, so if you cut off all the blooms from last year to clean up the plant you likely will not get blooms until next year on that plant. Sorry, but it happened to me.

Prune only according to the type of hydrangea it is. Some come from all new in the spring and can be cut to the ground in the fall while others bloom next year on the current summer growth. you have to know what type you have.

My husband pruned it year before last. I didn't let him prune it again, but still no blooms.
