in college chemistry, we dissolved pennies in pepsi and coke. you may find it better to use bar keepers friend. It is designed for use on most metals.....or sand with a fine grit paper....copper does not rust so I am assuming you are referring to steel or cast iron pans....cast iron needs to be coated with a paper towel and oil every time you wash it....it is actually far better to never wash cast iron...just wipe out with a paper towel after use

never heard of Pepsi to remove rust. I have used 50/50 mix of vinegar and water soak, overnight if it's bad. Give it a light scrub then dump the water mixture out. If any is remainin, scrub with salt. Rinse and dry the pan well.
