How can you keep Lilly of the valleys from taking over a flower bed?

    put them in containers then set them in the ground leaving an inch or so rim at the top.

    You can't. As above, treat them like bamboo

    you have to contain them - mine are in the 'hell strip' along the side of the house, bordered by concrete on all sides, and they are happy there.


    your only other choice is ruthless culling of wandering plants every spring, which you can pot up by the half dozen, and inflict on your friends.

    oh how I wish ladies! Where I used to live it grew rampantly. Where I am now NWIndiana with good soil and and a wooded back yard, I have 6 plants that in 3 years are still only 11 and non flowering!

    i live in nw indiana out in the woods and have bad sandy soil,,, my lily of the valley love it and so does their wild relative mayflower
