Hi Jerri! Pansies do very well with full sun, but can also handle some shade as well. All around perfect flowers no matter where you live!

Pansies perform best in cooler weather, and are therefore usually planted in spring or fall. They like rich, well-drained soil high in organic matter, and full sun or partial shade. (Shade is especially beneficial south of Zone 7 where the hot afternoon sun will shut down flower production.)

My mother planted pansies years ago where they got good morning sun and more dappled afternoon sun and they flowered all season long in her window boxes.
