Watering all plants I am assuming you mean out doors should be done in the early morning. What plants are you referring to?

No. Keep soil moist on real hot days, plants get real thirsty.

    Water early morning

If you can't water in the morning, plants can be watered later in the day, if you find they are dry. If hand watering, pour water at the base of the plant, not over it. Grass is best watered in the morning, evening watering promotes lawn fungus.

I agree with all of the suggestions. One example is the two herbs and two strawberries I have in large self watering pots. On days over 70 degrees the reservoir usually empties by the end of the day! These are 12 and 14 inch pots I would say. Pots dry out quicker than plants in the garden, but it amazing how much water they can drink.
