There are too many plants around it to try to spray Round Up and I can't pull it up.

  • I am a tree hugger, offer to give it away and have the recipient come dig it out carefully to save the rest of your plants but not kill the tree, a pecan tree at that. I am on "Nextdoor" and offers like this turn up every day from immediate neighbors. See if you have something similar.

Cut it down. Drill holes in the stump. Add epsom salts. It will decay.

19 inches isn't very tall, shouldn't be that hard to dig up.

It's a tiny tree. The trunk isn't as big around as a pencil.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. The tree is in the middle of some Elephant Ears. It can't be dug out. The roots are very deep. It's also about 1 foot from my large Oak Tree. I guess I'll cut it down as far as the soil but it will keep coming back. Can't put anything on the tiny trunk or it will kill what's around it.

It's in the middle of some Elephant Ears and about 1ft. from a large oak tree. It can't be left there!

Try cutting it down below soil line and put a can cut side down on top of it and push the can down as far as possible. This has worked for me with different deep rooted plants and no need for salt or poisons.

That you will have to dig the roots out.
