I have 2 dogs and 4 cats and the only thing that works for me is white vinegar. Either use it in a carpet cleaner or pour it directly on the carpet and use a wet dry vac or towels. When it dries the smell of the pee and the vinegar disappears.

There is a product called 'Pure Ayre" that I like to use to get the odor out of carpets when animals have an accident. I use it to get animal smells out of furniture, draperies, and just spray it around whenever I think the house needs it. It has always worked very well for me, even when I was fostering senior malamutes that were incontinent. It works on all types of odors, not just animal accidents. It is also excellent for removing any bad smells in your car, motor home, laundry, ect.
