When framing a bathroom mirror do you paint the underside black?

I want to frame a bathroom mirror. I am concerned with the reflection of the molding use to frame the mirror. Should I paint it black or the same color as the face of the molding?

Judy, I don't think you'll see the back of the frame since it will be up against the mirror. If some hangs over, you might want to paint it. I'd paint it the same color as the face of the moulding.

You should paint the back of your frame the same color as the front of your frame. It will typically show a little bit in the reflection, so you want it to match the frame. Good luck with your project!

You could paint it a different color than the frame! Use a color that goes with your theme that way it still matches your colors in the bathroom but gives the mirror a hidden pop of color!

  • I like things to match so I would paint it the same. However, if it doesn't work out you can always repaint it with a contrasting tone.
