Depends on what you're wanting to plant.
If you plan to plant vegetables put your garden in the portion of your yard that gets the most hours of sun.
Mine runs east to west here in Michigan. But I read in the Farmers Almanac that they should run north to south. I get the emailed one and I can't fin it when I do I'll let you know more.
What are you going to plant?
