Check with you local extension office. They will probably help you make sure you use the plants that grow the best for your area. You can grow things down there that we have problems with up here in the north because our growing season is so short. Cool weather crops probably can go in months before ours can.

I am familiar with your area as I am originally from New Orleans. And the answer is yes, you can plant a summer garden even this late and still reap its rewards. Just remember to water every day to keep it growing. I currently live in Northeast Texas and we are just now getting around to planting ourselves...been too busy with renovations to dedicate the time needed before now.

  • I started in February and continue through fall. But I am in So. CA. Depends upon your last frost and what you wish to plant - and days to maturity once the fruit or vegetable has sprouted. Start digging! Now is a great time and you will still get a great bounty! Happy planting!🌱
