Is there a certain spot to plant corn seeds to get them to fully grow?

I have a small garden in by backyard in the south direction, I have planted corn seeds for as long as I have had this garden, which is over twelve years. They start out growing and flourishing well, but they all of a sudden they stop growing and dry up. I end up using them on my fall decoration, so they don't totally go to waste, but I would love to see them grow so that my family and I can eat them. Everything else I plant in that garden grows. I also have a smaller garden on the east side of my house, I planted them there this year to see if the direction will result in change.

Crops need to be rotated.
The corn probably needs to be put in an area that has the proper nitrogen, etc. in the soil. Plant green beans in the same rows with the corn, these two vegies help each other grow and produce.
Also, corn needs to have full sun, and plant at least five rows, in order to accomplish full pollination (the wind creates the process). Some have tried planting them in a circle when there's not enough room for five or more rows.
The new location will give the corn more sun, I think I did do the circle procedure because of something I heard or read somewhere. Wish me well.
It might be that you need crop rotation and plant in a different area each year.
that makes sense, I did change locations this year. I will see how it goes before I give up on trying to grown corn.
