My elephant ear bulbs are getting soft and rotting.

They weren't coming up, so I dug some up and they were soft and rotting. Why would that happen. I just planted them this year. Could I have planted them too deep?

Cinnamon is often used as a helps retard the grow of fungus in the bulbs...they may have been a bit too wet over the winter...dust them with a fungicide or cinnamon and repot them, but do not water them.

They are not supposed to be left in the ground over the winter.
