My elephant ear bulbs are getting soft and rotting.

They weren't coming up, so I dug some up and they were soft and rotting. Why would that happen. I just planted them this year. Could I have planted them too deep?

Cinnamon is often used as a fungicide...it helps retard the grow of fungus in the bulbs...they may have been a bit too wet over the winter...dust them with a fungicide or cinnamon and repot them, but do not water them.

They are not supposed to be left in the ground over the winter.

Thank you both for your replies!! These were new and just planted this Spring. I will try the cinnamon idea. Thanks again!
