Is there something besides wax to put on chalk painted items?

    There are many different types of sealants that you could use. However, if you are sealing a lighter color some products will yellow it over time. I like General Finishes High Performance Top Coat. It is a milky white but dries clear and doesn't yellow.

    Sure, you can use any sealant you want. A couple of offbeat ideas: 1. Shoe polish in one coat lightly sanded, then more coats as you wish, with several colors to choose from. 2. Furniture polish, spray or liquid, in many coats; if you keep a note of what you used, you can use the same thing for years. 3. Spray shoe shine, like JROTC high school students use to pass inspection; can be repeated every time you dust. Have fun, and best wishes!
