I just take a pot (I prefer terra cotta because it "breathes "), some potting soil (I like the kind with Miracle Grow in it), put your seeds in and water it. Place it in a sunny window. Depending on what you plant, you can see results within a few days. Would you believe that I've started growing mango, lemons, bell peppers, and kiwi in my kitchen from produce that I bought from the grocery store? The mango was the first I tried and I was stunned to actually see it coming up. Now the first mango is two feet tall and in a large pot on the porch. Have fun. TeresaC

You can DIY house plants by collecting pieces from friends who have plants you like. Put the cut end of each piece into a glass of wate when it sprouts roots, plant it in soil, being careful not to touch those tender roots. You can buy rooting hormone at your local nursury, dip the stem of an African violet leaf into the powder; poke a hole into a small pot of soil. Put the powdered end of the leaf into the hole and press the soil around it. You should see tiny violet plants sprouting up around the stem in two-three weeks.. Could be several of them. When they're big enough, transplant each into its own pot.
