This is the biggest/ craziest DIY, renovation I have done so far. When my husband and I moved to a new apartment eight months back before the wedding. We knew that we will not splurge money on whole new items for our first home., rather we will save money where we could for the future. We bought the essential items from the store and rest we bought it either second hand or his relative gifted us.
We bought this second-hand TV unit for our bedroom which was quite decent with very minimal scratches which one can easily ignore.
But me being me, the color was not pleasing me! My house is full of either vintage things or has some shabby/ rustic looks. This brown was not fitting in that space at all. Trust me, I have managed with that teak brown unit for eight long months, deciding what to do with it without getting into any argument with my husband. I really thought of many things like using contact paper or may be just using stencils over it before painting it with white chalk paint.
This was the first time I painted in my whole life, I would not say this came out perfect the way I thought but I did it my way and have learned few things, makes me happy about it.
the before image!
I got the inspiration through these knobs, I found this on a website and couldn't hold myself to buy. This was exactly the look I wanted for the unit.
The Supplies- 120 ml white chalk paint,
Acrylic Colour
sand paper
form roller
and brush
I sanded the cabinet for the even surface to work on.
I mixed the chalk paint with 2/3 of water for a smooth finish. Then changed the knob with the new one. ( I used the acrylic paint inside the cabinet as I was sort of chalk paint)
you see the closer look, I just loved the visible brush stroke with the vintage look alike knob.
The final look. I haven't dressed the Unit yet.
But I just love how this white cabinet making my bedroom look more spacious.
P.S. Husband is pretty happy with this too bonus no arguments and he helped me too (little bit )icon
What do you guys think?
Also, How do I hide that TV and music system wire? Any suggestions

You did such a great job and I love those brush strokes too! And here is another idea. You could add feet to the bottom by just using plain blocks of wood and faux finish them like your drawer pulls or, paint them silver
