What plants and flowers will give great flowers in spring or summer but also have great foliage color beyond the blooming period?

      Perennials - go with Shasta daisy (tall ones), coneflower, rudebekia. Astilbe for shade areas. Annuals, I love zinnia. Long lasting and profuse flowers.

    Castor beans are poisonous, not safe to use around small children or livestock.

    Catmint (Nepeta ) Purple flowers all summer, greyish green foliage. Perennial and spreading. Walker's Low or Six Hills Giant. Love it and planting more this summer.
