    My answer is

"why not" I have many friends who have done this as they have a lot of company and have a great room and the living room was never used. Works great. Go for it.

I did . My Living room was long and narrow with 2 walls of windows. My dining was more square with no windows just a double door for light. Swithching them gave me room for a table for twelve and living space more conducive to visiting and watching tv. As long as you like it that is all that matters.
