Fleas???How to get rid of them....????

Call in the professionals! And everything needs to be washed / cleaned. So so sorry this happened to you. There are also supplements you can feed your pets to keep fleas at bay. Check with your vet for suggestions. If you live in a house, you can spray the perimeter of your property and base of your home with vinegar once a month, it does help. Good luck!

Sorry to hear your misery, and I hate to say but a girlfriend of mine ended up having exterminators come twice before she got rid of them, trying everything you described first AND giving her cats various treatments. You might have to call in the big guns

wash everything that can be washed in the hottest water possible & dry using as much heat as possible. vacuum everything else, emptying vacuum into a plastic bag & tying a knot to close immediately (to keep fleas from getting back onto carpet, etc) & dispose of. once all this is done, take a box (as many as needed) of regular table salt & just start shaking it liberally on furniture, under cushions, in carpets & bare floors, etc. where ever fleas are. leave it 24 hrs, vacuum, repeat. this should do it. for heavier infestations, repeat as needed. keep salt under cushions, in & around animal bedding, on welcome mats & door areas, changing out as needed to keep fleas from coming back. this kills fleas & their eggs, is safer & cheaper than everything else & it works!

Sounds like you have sand fleas---need a professional for this---this happened to my family when I was a teen---the only thing that worked was the professional treatment. Did you or a neighbor get a load of dirt/sand delivered lately? That is how we got them. Always ask for washed sand if you order it.

this is a devastating problem , I so sorry for you but can relate. I tried absolutely everything , including bombing the house. Everyone else is correct, you MUST wash all bedding and vacuum every inch of your home. If you have any hardwood in your home they get in between the boards and it is nearly impossible to get at them. We finally called in the exterminator !

I had this problem too but couldn'y set bombs because I have parrots too (beside the 4 cats) and so I called any one I could think of and someone suggested using Tea Tree Oil added to the water for both cleaning and bathing the animals. Since it was an herbal cure I only checked at herbal supplements stores and it cost about $20 for a small bottle and since I was desperate I got it (since then I found it is available at Walmart in the vitamin section for less than $10). I have a carpet steam cleaning machine (with an attachment to do upholstery) and I added 6 drops of Tea Tree Oil to the water. I had to make sure I washed EVERYTHING in EVERY room. Next I gave a bath to each of my pets in Tea Tree Oil water. After they were all bathed I got a spray bottle and filled it with water and added 6 drops of Tea Tree Oil (every time you use it it has to be shaken) so I could spray both the animals and the furniture. Every week for the next 2 months I'd repeat this whole process so that I could get any new fleas. Yes it took time and effort but I'm on limited funds and couldn't afford to have a professional do the cleaning and/or having to kennel all the animals (I couldn't take the animals to a friends' home at it would have carried the problem to them too!). The bonus to all this is that Tea Tree Oil smells good so iy freshens the house too. After the 2 months of intense treatment I give my cats a monthly bath using the oil. The reasons this works is (1) the steam kills the fleas, (2) the fleas HATE the Tea Tree Oil and leap off the animal to die in the bath water, (3) the oil soothes the bites, and (4) by doing this regularly it kills the newly hatched fleas.

When we had rosemary bushes around the area of the house we didn't have a problem with fleas. In fact my doggies would lie in the bushes and they were flea free. But when we removed the rosemary the fleas can back. I guess I'll be planting rosemary this year again

Do you still have pets inside? If you do try the Bayer Seresto Flea & Tick coller. We have 7 dogs and 2 cats, 4 of the dogs live inside mostly, We did have fleas all over the house. Couch, carpets everywhere. Flea shampoo & powder Nothing worked until I bought the Seresto collers for the inside dogs. Also Dawn dishwashing soap kills the fleas if you bath them in it and leave it on for 2-3 minutes, rinse and you can see them fall off and go down the drain. The collers last up to eight months and they really worked for us, in about a month or so my house had no more fleas. But if you no longer have pets then yeah you would want to call a professional.

we just went thru this with a new house, the previous people had 4 dogs in the house and it was a hoppin' flea circus..We had to call professionals, they came and conquered annnd sprayed our yard for us The investment was well worth it!

We had that problem once! We sprinkled Borax soap power all over let set couple of hours and vacuum. It may take more than one time.

0ur country vet told us to go to Walmart & go to washing soap department & buy box of Borax powders & sprinkle around base boards & on carpets & pet beds. Leave it for a few days. Then vaccum . IT WORKED. & has several different times over the years due to all our country pets.
